ORBITA EXPANDS ITS PRODUCT LINE TO INCLUDE A WALL-HUNG UNIT No room for a watchwinder cabinet? Orbita has answered the watch collector's problem of needing a multiple head watchwinder but lacking the space to place it. The unique feature of the new Romano 8 winder is that it is wall hung, conserving counter space and providing excellent access and visibility. Eight independent heads, each powered by a Swiss designed ironless core motor, operate on the patented Rotorwind® principle. Each watch is automatically rotated once every 10 or 15 minutes and then released to swing freely. The resulting oscillations wind the watch gently and reliably without any chance of overwinding. The low electrical consumption of the Rotorwind® system provides the perfect solution to the aesthetics of this contemporary design. With a guaranteed minimum battery life of 2 years, and more likely 3 or 4 years, there is no need for any exposed wires. Each watch is fitted over a resilient foam cushion that adapts to virtually any wrist size. After mounting the watch, the watch and cushion assembly is inserted into a winding cup. There is no metal-to-metal contact that could mar or damage a fine watch finish. The Italian handcrafted glass and wood doors provide perfect visibility and may be locked to prevent tampering or theft. All access for operating controls is at the front of the cabinet. Once the "D" cell alkaline batteries are installed the unit may be wall hung with no further removal required for adjustments or for operation. Cabinets are available in Cherry or Wenge hardwoods with center bands of contrasting wood veneers. Cabinet edging accents are in aluminum. For those desiring a free-standing cabinet, a matching pedestal is available, suitably weighted at the base to provide stability.
