ARTISAN SERIES WATCHWINDERS

Orbita Corporation has commissioned several internationally known artisans to design and produce unique watchwinder cases, giving the artists free reign to utilize the concepts and materials that have earned them their reputations.  Each design is to be produced in a Limited Edition of 100 pieces, serially numbered and individually signed by the artist.  The end result is an impressive, highly viewable work of art which houses an Orbita watchwinder module providing independent operation for each of the three rotating cups.  User-programmable microprocessor controls both rotation direction and turns per day (TPD), allowing full optimization for the watch being wound.  Power is provided by either "C" cell alkaline batteries or by the supplied AC/DC adapter.  A "low voltage" battery light automatically signals when battery replacement is due.  Here are the details of these artists and their unique watchwinder cases:

Artist - Stephen Schlanser
Apprenticed to the renowned German glass artisan, Paul von Domarus, Schlanser later opened his own art glass studio in California and has since been commissioned for special art glass projects for many well known companies and celebrities.  Each winder case begins by individually handcrafting and transforming heavy sheet glass into the component parts of the case.  Both the base and lid are first hand cut and then highly polished using diamond wheels.  The case sides are then diamond cut and high pressure sandblasted to produce the decorative etched surface.

Artist - Mark Rehmar
With university training in mathematics and physics, Rehmar left a career in residential design to build wooden furniture, and later began limited production of fine collectable boxes.  His furniture is found in many private collections in the United States, and his boxes are represented at numerous prestigious galleries throughout the USA and Europe.  Revealing the artist's unique style of combining highly figured solid wood with rare burl veneers, case construction of this Limited Edition is a combination of solid Walnut, Maple and Burl.
